In Zagreb, I realized my 2021 MacBook Pro M1 is starting to show its age. The battery life is shorter and the system seems slower than it was at the beginning, perhaps also due to the latest OS version. Yesterday, I used the "new" Acer with openSUSE Tumbleweed, running KDE Plasma. It's small, I paid about 500 euros for it, and it has a good monitor, but the battery life is poor, and that's the main reason I still primarily use the Mac. And yet, it gave me a greater sense of speed than the Mac. When one of the BSDs works well enough on this laptop (mainly suspend/resume), it will probably become my daily driver on the go. I need to try OpenBSD 7.8 as soon as it will be out.
it might have some surprises in store for me.

What's the simplest useful thing I want on my desktop?

A plain text area.

Now that I made it, any other #KDE user can have it, too!

Every time there's a new version of #CopyQ I update it in hopes that it will have started working again now. And the answer is always no. It starts, but does not pick up anything I copy. It's been like this for a long time, across distros. I suspect it's got something to do with #Wayland? But I see Wayland mentioned in the changelog as if it works? Makes me sad, CopyQ is such an incredible tool. Is there anything similarly powerful for #Gnome? #Linux #LinuxApps

@forteller@tutoteket.no Fwiw, #CopyQ works fine for me in #ArchLinux #Plasma #Wayland... so it's hard to believe the problem is just it being incompatible with Wayland per se.

This afternoon I tried to boot a KDE Linux image on my mini PC. Plasma kept crashing, so I couldn't try it out.
I'll wait for the next snapshot.

openSUSE Tumbleweed has been powering my mini PC (my main daily driver, with KDE Plasma) since early may and I am really satisfied with it.
I'd love to run one of the BSDs there, but this setup is doing great.

I see for #KDE#Plasma 6.4.3 using Wayland that #FreeBSD 14.3 automatically enables Shut Down and Restart buttons without needing to edit a text file, and user can enable auto login without editing a text file, however desktop crashes within 10 minutes and only have an unresponsive blank screen, requiring either Alt + F2 for command login to reboot or SSH in to reboot

Using xorg at login Plasma desktop is fully stable, but have to edit a text file to have Restart and Shut Down buttons in the menu and edit a file to enable auto login #plasma6

It's not version 6.4, but I already have a smooth install of KDE Plasma on my M73 Tiny desktop running on top of #OpenBSD
