VMP!
Ah, kwality is coming back! #macOS #Tahoe #DiscoveryD #Quality
Down to Sequoia. #Tahoe is filled with background services taking CPU that Apple decides to run without my explicit permission.
Running #IceCubesApp on #tahoe.
The font in the app is totally fine and crisp when the windows is on the local “retina”-display of the #MacBook.
But on the external display, connected via DisplayLink (hardware-adapter), the font is blurred or unsharp.
Moving the app window back to the internal display: navigation is re-rendered and everything is crisp again.

My Mac desktop is a nice complicated dark-ish rain-forest scene. This is not playing well with Liquid Glass.
Looking for a way to make the Dock non-transparent so I can actually see the little black dots that tell me whether something is running…
The transparent menu bar is change for the sake of change. Feaugh.
I want to try out a new #Mastodon client but it requires that I update my Mac to Tahoe 26. I've been told to wait for the .1 release as things are.... not great.
Curious if I'm being over cautious here. Has anyone installed #Tahoe on their #Mac and it's been "basically reasonable"?
EDIT: Thank you everyone! Seems like I can upgrade "sorta" safely. This was very helpful. Always so thankful for the helpful vibes of the fediverse.
The more I use #Tahoe the less I like the UI. It's inelegant and tacky, Apple created so many issues for themselves that the fixes are haphazard and sort of random. Like, there are translucent toolbars here, ugly gradients there, three or four different looks for the same controls... It's a damn mess as of the Public Beta. Dark mode is even worse, the windows have SO MUCH CHROME! Panels on panels, each with its own outline...
I'm not against change, I liked the Big Sur look from the start!
I’m actually looking forward to #macOS#Tahoe putting apps in squircle jail, at least for the ones that notoriously ignore macOS design conventions. Just look at how Avid Media Composer sticks out with its oversized icon that eats into the reserved spacing.
And by the way, the product name is Avid Media Composer – why omit the spaces on the Dock icon?
(Thanks, @siracusa for coining the term “squircle jail”!)
