Every hide we went into today (5) at Welney Wetlands, had Barn Swallows nesting.

Enjoyed a day out with fellow birdman stubacon@mastodonapp.uk today at a location near his patch. Pretty hot day with a few birds and Dragonflies in attendance.

I don't know that it's "ospreys really know their angles" so much as "ospreys don't have bad angles." So glamorous and photogenic!

The osprey back-winging as it surveys below it for food. Its tail feathers are prettily fanned, and the long wings are curled in, cupping the air. The killing hook of its beak is visible; as are the long sharp talons it uses to catch and pinion fish, gathered in against its white body.

The osprey seen from below, with the light through its neatly ticked wing feathers very distinct, as are the spreading graceful 'fingertips' of each distal wing feather. Sun is bright on the white cap of its head, and it is very clear that several feathers on the right side of its tail have recently grown in and are far too short. Nonetheless, a beautiful, striking bird.

An osprey flying above and toward the camera against a blue sky just washed with a wisp of cloud. The bird's wide-spread wings have a long graceful shape , with dark brown tracing the leading edge and decorating the trailing edge of the white wings. It has very binocular vision, so it truly does appear to be looking at us with its forward-trained golden eyes.

Feed me!

We were surprised to find a nestling this morning. Most have fledged a few weeks ago. Perfect conditions though to get some nice photos.

This is what it looks like in real time. They are very fast at feeding #birds#birdPhotography

A tree swallow nest box, nestling with head out. Adult swoops in to feed and out again in mere seconds.

I mistakenly said that the last puffin photo I posted was taken in May 2019 when it was in fact taken in June 2019. It matters to nobody but me but the mistake irked me. My social anxiety stopped me from editing the post because I didn't want to spam the notification of hundreds of people. 😂

This photo was taken on the same visit to Látrabjarg. Please consider this an erratum of some sort.
