The US government has designated the Italian collective Autistici/Inventati, which produces the infrastructure of NoBlogs.org, a "Specially Designated Global Terrorist," freezing their assets and prohibiting all transactions with them——citing their "far-left" politics and the fact that they have provided services to "anti-fascist" groups for justification.

Autistici/Inventati is an activist-oriented tech project that offers encrypted communications tools, email, web hosting, secure chat, and video conferencing platforms for users who prefer to stay off corporate grids.

This is what the US government is shutting down as "terrorism."

A tiny Bonfire feature that we’ve grown quite fond of 🌱

Instance admins can define their own set of default avatars, which are randomly assigned to people who haven’t uploaded a profile picture yet.

It sounds like a very small thing and technically, it is.

But after experimenting with it on the Jacobin community, we noticed how much these little details can contribute to giving an instance its own visual identity and fostering a sense of belonging to a shared digital place.

Not every feature that shapes a community needs to be big. Sometimes it’s just a bunch of tiny avatars 😊

Someone is trying to spread #malware (Edit: or possibly just #junkware) via a website that seeks to mimic the page for #qFlipper, the popular firmware updating tool for the #FlipperZero tool.

The bogus webpage is qflipper dot org and appears to push some janky Windows download where they have managed to get it code signed with a bogus cert and the installer has the wrong properties.

The REAL qFlipper page is https://github.com/flipperdevices/qFlipper

EDIT: In fact, if you click anywhere on that page, the page generates a random ad popup and delivers a variety of junkware downloads from a round-robin of delivery websites, including Opera.com (the browser people), and such unforgettable pages as "Dropfluxy" and "globaladredirecttracking dot com" and "pronesityrophy dot co dot in" and "mydownloadsitecenter dot com" and a bunch of others.

In fact, if you click the download link, you get a zip taken from the original firmware archive from github in 2024, but if you click anywhere else on the page, it randomly pops to a new site in a new tab.

Please help spread the word with a boost or word-of-mouth. And someone should maybe tell vendors that, after 8 days, this should have more than zero detections on Virustotal.
