You know those stories where beach side towns flooded with Airbnb's forcing essential and under paid workers out of the town due to high housing costs leaving businesses without workers and essential maintenance not done?
Well, the same thing is happening Australia wide. It's happening slowly so people aren't specifically noticing. Many businesses are relying on shortcuts, degraded service, fraud or crime. Some of this is because of businesses being profit driven greedy pigs but not all. We've seen several stories about childcare companies collapse due to funding or shutdown due to safety. Building apprenticeship numbers are apparently low because of abuse and low/no pay.
I'm pretty opinionated about this but I do believe you can attribute any increase in crime (if there is) to just people finding that crime is the only way now.
An economy planted in selling houses to each other at higher prices is not sustainable.
