In January 2026, Modern Times, a for-profit café in Minneapolis, changed their business model to offer food to everyone for free, running on donations alone as a way to support the community through the ICE occupation and cease paying sales tax to an authoritarian government.

Hey. You know the one group of people you don't need to tell that usage changes over time, inevitably, and naturally?
The people who know enough to see it changing, and lament it.
(It astonishes me how many people feel they have to inform me that some language loss I lament is just how it is. I already know how it is. I am lamenting how it is.)
@GeePawHill Spend 30 minutes learning about the history of the English language (or any other) and stop complaining. Language loss is real but it’s because of English.

What people defending AI don't understand, is how much people who dislike AI, dislike AI.
It's not just a casual "uhh I am not a fan of this" stance. It is a full rejection paired with mentally stigmatizing, probably forever, the AI product & the company behind it.
People on the internet have long memory. We all know who did NFTs in the past & we know who is doing AI right now.

> We are completely overwhelmed, of course. The glimmer of hope is that we secured sufficient LLM budget and access (thank you Meta!) to run reviews with multiple frontier models on each patch. This eliminates some hallucinations. That said, in terms of review, the LLMs can only do so much. The sad truth is that our APIs (especially for rare events like PCIe errors, timeouts etc.) have always been racy, and now LLMs don't let us ignore that. I expect our direction for the next release will be to tweak the reviews a little bit more, but start shifting focus to letting the LLMs take care of the busy work - managing patchwork, automating common process complaints, editing commit messages, and maybe applying patches which already got "reviewed-by" tags from people we trust...

1.527 MiB/s between the two object storages does seem pathetic but I guess thats what I get for having a dedicated server with only 100MB/s of bandwidth versus 1Gbps
@eramdam I think it’s because OVH heavily throttles their object storage. Like, absurdly so.

Also what do you do when it lingers and you're like five life's works into it and the feeling doesn't go away so really when you just hear about anything at all you just continually recoil over and over again?
@tinker I would say that this is your body telling you that you’ve reached a hard limit. It doesn’t mean that you can never go back but it mend that there is something wrong and you need to figure it out.
I have no idea what your life looks but you should talk to someone professional about this if you can.

This morning I'm packing to drive to Sweden for a week's Hackathon for early career researchers. This will be the 6th bootcamp/Hackathon that I've run and first in our @esa ( @esaclimate ) PISCO project.
