As I understand it: Building a kernel which works on your machine is a perfectly reasonable project for a motivated developer to take on, even without "AI"-assistance.
Building a kernel which works on practically every machine is near impossible, but once Linus Torvalds humbly asked "who wants to play?"... Enough people did that before long we wound up with something remarkably close!
Bystanders report traffic blocked by fluffy baby. Just the biggest fluffiest baby they have ever seen. No one wants to ask him to stop rolling around and make way for them to pass

@dangillmor So much for free speech in the US. It's becoming more like Russia everyday.

We’re *SUPER* excited to share 🌟 The Academic Wheel of Privilege 💫 which an equity-based tool for authorship order.
Authorship order is often treated as a technical or administrative detail. But it is also tied to recognition, promotion, prestige, & career opportunity. When authorship decisions are framed as “neutral”—for example through convention, alphabetization, or randomization—they may still reproduce existing inequities rather than correct them.
This is so great! The University Health Network of Toronto built housing for 51 high-risk homeless people, and their emergency room visits dropped in half. The group is now increasing the rooms to 300. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/ont-dunn-house-9.7365728

Are pocketbooks with big texts a thing or is it just wishful thinking on my end?
@farah they are! I don't know about any specific book-houses or so with them, but, the concept is definitely very real!
To this day, not a single one of Mom's super religious friends has done anything to help our family; even after being informed she almost died & is living with cancer now. You know who has actually helped Mom/our family, offline?
People who don't go to churches at all. People whom super religious folks would deem as heathens/sinners against God.
Yet, those so called heathens showed the most humanity & zero hypocrisy, during my family's time of serious needs. They just called/came by to help/support us. There's not many but we're grateful for those golden, kindhearted souls.
But that probably won't happen, and do you want to know why? Because it serves their purposes to herd all the lefties into a corral where they can be moderated, algorithmically supressed, censored and even shut down at critical moments like today.
Staying on Bluesky is a suckers bet.
@mastodonmigration just been censored for this post about rioting and looting during social unrest here in France which has been considered as criminal :
« It is not theft to take back what has been stolen from our workforce: it is 95% commercial brands such as Tommy Hilfiger, H and M, Carrefour, etc. that have been looted, and not the seller of the local market. »
