- had most amazing help from CP train manager Badajoz-Entroncamento
- got shouted at for filming by the driver of Entroncamento-Lisboa regional train (when we *do* have a permit!)
- got shouted at by the bar man in the IC to Tunes for sitting down before ordering 🤡

The low for tonight is now up to 3C, with showers. It's often a little bit colder at my house than on the forecast... if it snows tonight I'm going to cry. Probably still going to get some frost.
Anyway, time to pick all the ripe and mostly ripe tomatoes and peppers, cover the pumpkins with straw, and pick most (maybe all) of the corn, and find all the monster zucchinis that are lurking under the leaves. Will try to cover the tomatoes and see if we get a few more days out of them.
Lunch break.
Got all the tomatoes (except for the stupid teeny tiny cherries that I am tired of picking), got part of the zucchini and pattypans, got some ground cherries, got all the field peppers, and picked one more bucket of chokecherries. Fed large zucchinis and cucumbers to goats.
After lunch: hunt more monster (zucchinis), then pick corn and cover pumpkins.

Giving up privacy in honor of accessibility, means willingly putting ourselves in danger. As blind users, our privacy is vulnerable by definition - if you have a hidden relationship, for instance, you should find someone willing to help you, to take you wherever you meet your lover, and so on. If public transportation covers less.
The cult is something else, the cult I fight, is the one comparing AI to a murder, they are no different from those awful folks considering gays at the same way of pedos.
We must fight for a better tech, considering privacy, security and accessibility, by design. One must not break the other.
Ah yes! My misunderstanding! You are right! While I do think it's creepy to have devices listening all the time, 24/7, I will not call Disabled users of the tech perverts. Non-disabled men are using these to record women, daily, without their knowledge and I will not back down from my stance that is gross. I blame the developers fully. I will, however, call those data hungry goblins that invented the capability exactly what they are, Tech Bros that are data hungry goblins. @woozle my guess is that this is purely an economic move to delay / avert the whole "running out of money" scenario
the AI companies are still failing to find the necessary funding, and most of their spending right now is on training new models, so cutting that and justifying it with some "what if the models turn into skynet" reasoning is a sensible move
@rnd It seems to me that's actually long-term sensible behavior. If they can stop inflating the bubble, maybe it can deflate more slowly and less catastrophically.
Also, Amodei's argument seems based on legitimate concerns rather than "the AI Singularity is nigh -- repent all ye non-investors!" or something.
Thinking for yourself is beautiful. Walking around and observing is way more instructive than jumping from a fast train to another fast train without even thinking about what you’re doing. Independence and freedom start in the mind. You have to tend to your mind. You have to nourish it. Tech toys in most cases do the opposite. They make you passive, acquiescent, controllable. Don’t become an accessory to your own ruin.

@morrick the funnier part is that many of my friends who swear by using LLMs to get serious work done do admit that LLMs do often make mistakes, sometimes quite embarrassing ones, and those take time to fix. It's almost like the net effect in terms of time saved is zero...
If you are on an iPhone, and want to prevent thieves from snatching your phone and using it to steal from you, this dead simple trick is invaluable:
Normally your phone only requires a pin or FaceID when you unlock it, but if they steel your phone out of your hand, then they get your phone unlocked and can access everything.
Fortunately, this is easy to prevent:
1. Hold your finger down on any sensitive app you have: Banking, payment, e-mail, etc.
2. Select "Require FaceID".
That is it.
