India fears a planned Chinese mega-dam in Tibet will reduce water flows on a major river by up to 85% during the dry season, prompting Delhi to fast-track plans for its own dam to mitigate the effects. https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2025/08/25/asia-pacific/politics/china-dam-water-war-india/?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=mastodon #asiapacific #politics #china #india #narendramodi #xijinping #water #conservation #dams #climatechange #environment #rivers #hydropower #tibet

I have been using my OM System Tough TG7 to record insect and plant life in our local wood and next month comes a study of the water quality and sub-aquatic life in the burn.
Yesterday I decided to play a little by submerging the TG7 and capturing the bubbles in a pool after a short set of small waterfalls to see what it looked like from a shrimp's-eye view.
Turns out it looks kind of cool - what an amazing little camera the TG7 is!

Want to learn something about #water and #climate change?
A simple approximation is that for every degree C of warming, the atmosphere holds 7% more water. That's one factor behind the growing number of extreme flooding events.
And climate scientists have been predicting these impacts for literally a half century or more.
The Trump administration's efforts to hide these kinds of basic scientific truths are just fossil-fuel industry propaganda.

How corporatists think;

"... Douglas Armstrong ... told The Aucklander that everyone must pay their bills. He says using the user-pays system, rather than charging water as part of rates, is fair. He says when people don't pay their bills, those who do are left to cover Metrowater's overheads. 'That's an inherent flaw in the Water Pressure Group's argument. It's wrong that someone should turn on the tap and use water and not pay for it'."
