I'm generally a big fan of @pluralistic but he's got it wrong about stock buybacks. Sure, they increase the price of the company's shares, but since there's less shares on the market, the market value of the company stays the same. (Which not to say that unwary buyers couldn't be fooled into thinking the company was more valuable.)
Hmmm.... there's been some discussion here about the possibility of an impending AI crash... and now there's been a dip prompted (in part?) by an MIT paper which suggested almost all AI firms will make zero return - the Q. is whether this is a blip or the beginning of an 'emperor has no clothes' moment?
The next couple of days might be interesting?

why bother complying with all the onerous rules that regulate the selling of securities to the public when you can just sell them “tokens” instead?
SpaceX and OpenAI are privately held companies that have disclosed virtually nothing about their businesses to the public (which they would be required to do before selling "shares" instead of "tokens" to mere mortals).
