I'm grateful for the recent changes in the moderation of Hashtags via Mastodon but I really wished it had a "filter" option in the dropdown, like "add to new or existing filter", mute hashtag, etc. Now that sports season is back and there are a thousand and one teams and more people are active, using team and game specific hashtags, it's gonna be hard to chase, esp when people don't use universal sport hashtags like #Football#Soccer #baseball#Rugby, etc along with their team or game specific tags. It is exciting to see sports growing in the Fediverse, though. #Mastodon #dev#MastoDev

Gemeinsam haben wir dann noch einen schönen Stadtspaziergang gemacht und ich habe vieles über das Leben in Ferrara erfahren.

We've successfully upgraded our Mastodon server to v4.5.0-alpha.2+mementomods-2025-08-30. This update includes today's latest daily build, so everything should be as current as possible. The version features some minor UI improvements tied to the new Quote Posts feature we're testing.We've also set up an organization for all code-related work, so it's no longer on my personal account. I was just thinking to myself "It would be good if #Mastodon let you follow someone's original posts without seeing all the stuff they boost, which is not relevant to me".
Then it occurred to me to look and see if it does ... and it does! Click on the person's username, then click the three-dots menu near top right of their profile, then choose "Hide boosts from …"
This is a game-changer!

Another reason for #ActivityPub / #Mastodon to figure out a protocol that doesn't rely on static IPs and DNS: If you're not relying on an IP address or domain name, it's bloody hard for someone to block it. Tech journalists treat Mastodon like a corporate competitor, not a protocol. They’re so conditioned by the “5 corps in a trench coat” internet, they can’t grasp a decentralized web. The fediverse breaks their brain. 😆

Genuine Mastodon servers never demand verification like this.
If you see a scam post like this, click ⋯ on the scam post, then "Report", then report it and make sure you select the option to forward the report to the origin server.
