Noch besser wäre es, der WDR hätte seine eigene Domain, würde da für jede Lokalzeit-Redaktion und alle Mitarbeiter*innen einen Social-Account frei nach name@social.wdr.de anlegen und so dafür sorgen, dass alle für immer unabhängig berichten und kommunizieren können. So einfach wie eine Internetadresse, eine E-Mail-Adresse, eine Telefonnummer und dann eben eine Social-Web-Adresse.
Das kann doch alles nicht so schwer sein.

Ich habe mich gerade zum soundsovielsten Mal gefragt, warum viele WordPress immer noch zum großen Teil auf eX-Twitter stattfindet.
Automattic sponsort das ActivityPub-Plugin und WordPress ist hier auch irgendwo mit einem Account vertreten, aber soweit ich weiß gibt es keine offizielle WordPress-Instanz.
Imagine sharing a link to your fediverse account to someone not on the fediverse, hoping they follow you.
Now imagine instead that the link you share takes them to a beautiful yet simple landing page that carefully guides them to the ideal platform, geographically closest, and helps them through the onboarding process, recommends the best desktop/mobile client and then follows you from their new account.
Stop dreaming. I'm building this. Wanna help?
@dansup I like what you are doing though it doesn't benefit me as a WordPress user that I can tell.
Another use case would be having a link to an onboarding tool on profile pages, which could be tailorable for instances.
It could see someone not logged in, and given them the option of creating an account on the instance, or another instance.
This might even help with distributing new users to other instances.
It's a thought.

Experienced this both on #Mastodon and #Mammuthus instances. And yes, regarding Mammuthus it is always possible, that this behaviour is caused by my software... 😉

@mellifluousbox I’m reminded of my early days at the Open Knowledge Foundation @okfn , first as a volunteer and later as an ambassador in Brazil.
After some time, I suggested forming a local group. Due to my involvement, I later worked as a consultant. A member of the core organization coordinated local leadership, supported ambassadors, and held open meetings periodically. That structure was important.
Out of that structure, I founded Open Knowledge Brasil @okbr , which I ran for years before moving to Europe. Being close to people with strong communication and advocacy skills was invaluable, that's where I learned the most.
Today, I see similar energy in the Fediverse, with accounts such as @FediTips and @mastodonmigration. There are also communication professionals, for example, @hpod16 runs a highly strategic account for the @EUCommission. Or people like @bjoernsta , leading the awesome campaign #SaveSocial .
Resources may be limited, but there is clearly a passionate and capable community.
It might be worthwhile to find ways to involve and coordinate this existing expertise more intentionally.
