I think we do agree.
I don't think that ANYONE is perfection incarnate, but I think it is the duty of people in stations of power to be more perfect than people who aren't.
I have high expectations for almost everyone, not just people in power.
But my argument was not merely to focus on that particular action, it was to show that that supports the direction Linus took with respect to AI and ties back to it.
If Linus had been someone with strong empathy, he would at least consider many of the critical arguments of folks smarter than either of us.
Instead, he went full pork fist and basically went "we're using AI, deal with it."
i expect the worst of people in power.
those who try to get there have to proof themselves in various ways and it requires to be good at very specific kinds of abilities ...exactly those that bring out the worst in people. very interesting that you have high expectatiins of ppl in power - to me that feels more like wishful thinking and naivity, which means you probably have enough privilege to be able to afford to think like that instead of checking reality 🤷♀️

Like I know folks don't like being asked to do stuff because someone from their community asked them to. The distain for their folks is clear.
The whole outcome was predictable. It's easier to go on about cancelling and to blame the mob than take a moment to have some empathy for their community.
It's not a mob. It was a bunch of folks wanting you and FOSS projects to do better.
They never learn and it saddens me.

When you read "The Elements" by Euclid you are reading a copy of a copy of a copy of a math textbook written 2000 years ago.
Book V was mostly based on the work of Eudoxus of Cnidus, who was a Pythagorean and so in it you have a proof of "The Pythagorean Theorem" which we attribute to Pythagoras.
I can imagine that this proof was first expressed in lectures and lessons and probably made famous by Pythagoras himself or one of his followers.

My current AI-code policy is that I will always use the best model I can access, as long as it's practically able to do the job.
Right now, as far as I know, that's Fable.
Quality and accuracy matter FAR more to me than volume or speed of output. And I feel that I owe it to my customers — and myself — to use the best tools at my disposal.
Cost may be a factor to others, so no judgment. This is just my policy for myself.

But it is an humongous model, difficult to host and therefore the most expensive to use.
