So, I've asked #VeriSign again, and they won't let anyone get the second-level domain of the third-level domain they use, even when there is a single third-level registration under that second-level domain. They refused for years, and even now that they decided to terminate the service, they won't allow it.

They are killing many thousands of personal web sites and they don't care. #ICANN does not care either. Even though there are real security risks.

Fuck, I'm devastated.

My eyes nearly strained rolling at the response that went out today from 1Password defending their donation to Omarchy. Particularly in the light of their VP of Product just tweeting this, while simultaneously acting like the donation had nothing to do with DHH: https://x.com/jmeller/status/2094132068342964671

They are feeling the heat enough to put out a coordinated statement. Keep up the pressure! I sent a very dissatisfied reply and continued to emphasize that if they do not withdraw the donation, I am cancelling my subscription and will stop recommending 1Password as a product.

If you're going to boil the water you need to be able to do it for at least one minute at a rolling boil to make sure everything is dead. This doesn't just mean little bubbles forming on the side of the pan, this is big bubbles forming, everything turning over and boiling aggressively for the full minute. Some pathogens like giardia form very tough spore cases that take a long time to penetrate to kill the organism inside. This is also why it's important to make sure the water is thoroughly filtered, it could take a while for heat to penetrate all the way through a mud particle to a pathogen in the centre say, so if the surface gets a minute at boiling temperature the pathogen itself may only get ten seconds.

This is probably the simplest way of doing it that involves buying the least, but if the power's out and you're using a camp stove you're going to get through fuel very fast this way.

Earlier this week I unsubscribed from #1Password and moved to #Bitwarden... due to their donation of 300k to DHH's #Omarchy.

I made sure to let them know about the reason, so that hopefully the company would notice those kind of decisions have an impact.

Day one I got messages from their AI system.

But today I got a response by a real human at 1Password (or so it appears).
