I can't necessarily say this is my favorite book (I am only 87 pages in) but I am enjoying how Darnielle (of Mountain Goats fame) uses a Book Of Days conceptual framework to explore the story and craft of lyrics to his own songs, one per day of the year.

It was confusing, the way the universe refracted and reflected, but he kept his wits about him, as he had been trained. He knew if he could find his star compass, lost when he entered the portal, he'd be fine. The problem was, when he saw it, he also saw it reflected. Which one was real?

The Chair Company tells the humble tale of a young woodworker who runs a chair building company out of the attic of his parents' house. He gets hired by one of the largest companies in the world to build thousands of chairs for a new headquarters. Chaos ensues as he works to meet the demands of the contract. There is lots of B-roll footage of workers sitting on chairs, as they break and collapse, and workers tumble to the floor with a look of surprise.
