Looking for data-rescue efforts that are newbie-friendly. In initial discussions of a possible data-rescue-thon sometime spring semester.

Newbie-friendly most likely means:

* good workflow documentation

* no software installation needed (or at LEAST make it minimal and cross-platform)

* automation-friendly, but by-hand work (e.g. dataset metadata) also available

* a clear destination for completed work

With the #Fediverse growing what is your opinion on either #NodeBB and #Discourse integrations into it?

I've been once again messing around with NodeBB and it's built-in federation is pretty seamless for posting into it.

Was going to spin up a Discourse forum and mess around with their #Activitypub plugin ecosystem to see how it goes.

@lysander se ricordo bene i classici del noir editi da Gallimard (autori tipo Manchette) in edizione tascabile nuova li ho visti a qualcosa tipo 7.50€. Penso che la differenza stia nel fatto che a)gestiscono in modo sensato i fondi per l'editoria b) non ci sia un distributore che detiene, nei fatti, il monopolio come invece accade qua in italia

It sometimes baffles me when moderately successful indie games release a lot of amazing new stuff and don't make it a paid expansion ("dlc").

Often I would buy it, at least on sale, and I'm pretty poor. Normal prices for these things are pretty good value - indies are kind of underpriced if anything.

Heck, if you do want to be generous at least add a donation DLC so people can _choose_ to give you more money when you give more game. Some people do it.

Ogni volta che sono in Francia ed entro in una libreria rimango piacevolmente sorpreso di come il costo dei libri sia molto inferiore rispetto a quello in Italia. Un tascabile che qua verrebbe tra i 12 e i 16 € in una libreria (che sia indipendente o una Fnac) costa tra gli 8 e i 12. Sui fumetti lo scarto è ancora più evidente: edizioni cartonate (qua appannaggio di Lizard e Panini) che qua costano facilmente 40-50€, in Francia si trovano a 25€. E infatti si vede molta più gente leggere. Tra l'altro mi è capitato nell'ultimo anno di andare in due librerie di movimento, a Lione (La Gryffe) e a Parigi (Publico, della FAF) e vi è un'offerta libraria di editori indipendenti stabordante, dalle riedizioni dei classici del pensiero politico rivoluzionario a testi appena usciti, periodici, fumetti, libri per bambini.
