@randahl looks good. China imports a lot and most of its economy is dependent on exports to the EU and US. But we don’t see any measure by the EU to curb imports from China. Instead, what we see is a rising dependency on Chinese imports.

Today Meta has deactivated the Instagram accounts of the "No Kings" protests on the very day they are happening in the US. You can avoid Meta's fascist-defending shenanigans by following one of the main No Kings organisers on here instead:

@FediFollows @indivisibleteam @tchambers I'm actually glad Meta did this. Meta is beyond evil but people just won't wake up to it and/or make up all kinds of excuses why they have to be on their platforms.
With actions such as these it becomes increasingly impossible to defend your presence there, just as it becomes increasingly impossible to find actual value on anything Meta.
Given how stubborn people are this kind of high profile bans and other shenanigans may be the only thing that does the trick.
The only problem is many smaller communities where social life practically runs over FB. Leaving the platform can mean literally being isolated in your own town and not having access to local information. This is a problem across the world and we need to find a solution (which likely will involve local politics and can be difficult depending on how they lean).

To add: Mastodon's chronological timeline also does actually make specific curation choices, and it does not actually show you all posts from an account you follow.
Suppose you follow Alice. You only see replies Alice makes if you also follow the account she replies to, replies by Alice to accounts you don't follow don't show up in your Home timeline.
I think this is fine! But chronological feeds are not neutral, they make specific and meaningful curation choices about the content you see

Il problema del "bait and switch", se arrivato con buone intenzioni di sicurezza, potrebbe causare dei grossi problemi a quelle app che, per svariati problemi architetturali, hanno bisogno di inserire comportamenti innescati solo se le funzioni di accessibilità sono attive - VoiceOver, switch control, ecc.
Un vedente potrebbe non essere interessato a conoscere questo trigger, e lo sviluppatore potrebbe non mettercelo. Ho diverse app che funzionano così. Da sperare che questi dev per questo tipo di funzioni usino le accessibility label.

In the #LoResMesh project, we've just shipped a lightweight wrapper for #Kiwix that connects it to our #P2P network powered by #P2Panda.
What that means is that each of our community servers can host important website archives, and you can also search for archives that are at other nearby servers, allowing you to click through (if the internet is up), or physically go there 🚴 if the internet is down 🔥 ⛈️.
