Friendly reminder that megacorporations like Amazon are ruining the world, and you can instead support small independent businesses that make weird little things like today's Low Quality Ad, this Cow Jumping Over The Moon Pin.

if #FLOSS developers are going to be paying tokens ―in kind or cash― to a multimillion dollar, venture-capital funded or publicly traded corporation for their #aislop code, then the FREE and LIBRE part of FLOSS isn't anymore.
now that part of the FLOSS codebase will now depend on that tokenized labor.
in other words: LLM/AI is antithetical to FLOSS
"It was a lack of leadership from the [Democratic] campaign to not engage at the level of the candidate when the other guy was showing up to have meals with people,” Berry said. It “was a night-and-day difference”.
One more example of how #Democratic "leaders" - the "moderates" and their highly paid consultants - failed at the fundamental task of engaging with the voters.
Democrats ignored the uncommitted movement for Gaza in 2024. Now, it’s winning elections

In April, we asked you to sign a petition calling for a referendum on who owns England’s water, & I did now it's because over one hundred thousand people with me from right across our movement signed the petition, Parliament is going to debate it.
On Monday 14th September MPs will debate whether the public gets a say on whether our water should be owned by sovereign wealth funds and pension funds from around the world OR by us who depend on and pay for the service.
Wherever you live in the UK - England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland - you can make sure your MP attends the debate and speaks in support of a referendum on who owns England's water.
Cheers

I am bored and confused

Fucking clankers
OH @piko: "Calvin Klein underwear"
@nitot @temptoetiam Fun fact. J'ai réussi à passer le contrôle avec un couteau suisse à Roissy. Mais ma fourchette pliante de Décathlon avait failli ne pas passer
The access lasted for about two hours, during which the homepage of noblogs.org was changed, and we cannot rule out that the attacker may have had access to the users' database, which contains the list of email addresses of the people who manage the blogs and their passwords (not in plain text).
No IP addresses, neither of those who write nor of those who read, are stored on the server.
Our blog Cavallette automatically publishes to our Mastodon profile, so a post written by the attacker was also reposted there.
We recommend that anyone with the Mastodon Autopost plugin enabled on their blog, as we do, immediately change the password of their social account and revoke Noblogs' authorization from Profile Settings → Account → Authorized Apps.
For now, noblogs.org is UP and online in read-only mode.
By sheer coincidence, I just wrote a minor lecture about flash a couple of days on VCFED:
https://forum.vcfed.org/index.php?threads/cf-card-vs-hdd.1258645/#post-1515080
The important bit is:
FLASH IS SIMPLY NOT A SUITABLE ARCHIVE MEDIUM!
Stay tuned!

On August 28, 2026, someone managed to gain access to the noblogs.org platform as a privileged user, exploiting a vulnerability in the software we use to provide the platform.
The current Pixelfed webUI is very inefficient, and does not track state, so when you tap on a profile or status, it fetches them again.
On top of that, we have expensive middleware to check if your account has a confirmed email, and if you have 2FA enabled and you verified it.
For every request.
The new webUI caches this data, and only refetches on interactions, significantly reducing load on the server, and I'm working to remove that expensive middleware.
Progress!
@dansup Glad to hear all that news about Pixelfed. Are you planing to work at the admin interface and functions as well?
I know this is a bit tmi, but I have a complicated relationship with clothes, and pants in particular. I found a pair of pants I get on with and literally don't buy any other kind. They are reasonably priced and comfortable. Everything fits in and doesn't move around too much (sorry for being sexy on the internet, but we've all got a bum - deal with it). However they do have a tendency to fall apart after a while. I will charitably say this is because I clean them fastidiously and not that my balls excrete acid somehow, like someone in my marriage who will remain anonymous has theorised. I therefore have to occasionally sadly say goodbye to my old friends, with whom I have shared many adventures. But I went through some Very Hard Times not that long ago and took to mending my pants (which for the interested, are exclusively black - that's just how I roll). And then I discovered I got a kick out of mending them with gold thread. And now I can't stop. And I imagine it's not terribly appealing to Mrs Bread to have a husband who refuses to throw away his old pants, but instead spends hours badly sewing them with the wrong colour thread. But the thing is.....a) she's not interested in me at the moment anyway, and b) my brain has decided it's like kintsugi. Whatever the pants version of kintsugi is. Pantsugi. And it means I rescue my old friends and we go on even more adventures, and they get a chance to live the second half of their life a little snazzier. Just me and my pants with their lil gold sparkle. Going running around town and getting into mischief. Anyway I've just done a bunch of sewing and it's made me strangely happy. And it's not like I never buy new pants. I did recently. And I got them from somewhere else. A trusted premium brand. And do you know how much they were? THIRTY POUNDS!!!!!!!!!! FOR PANTS!!!!!!!!!!! It should be a crime. The worst crime. Charging £30 for pants. And when they inevitably die, I will need to decide whether they deserve to be inducted into the Gold Club. Honestly I think they may not deserve it. I think they might be one and done. The audacity. Sometimes I read what I've written and genuinely wonder if I'm ok.
@TheBreadmonkey If I were pants, I would want to be inducted. Into the Gold Club, no less.
No cat to present, but I thought I’d try a #CritterDay hashtag as a parallel idea.
We are working to restore all of Noblogs' functionalities as soon as possible and in the best possible way!
Stay tuned!
