Do you remember the surprise announcement of a new social network in Davos this past January? Something that promised to be the "first" European social network?
Its name is #WSocial and it's a fork of #Bluesky. Its founders have ties with European politicians - but there is no official involvement by the EU.
You wouldn't know any of this from media reports because they all rehashed their talking points. So I wrote a post about it, dispelling some myths:

With Mastodon, I can do server.social/@ExternalUser@RemoteServer.social, if your server already knows about the remote account, I think? Either way, this is very Mastodon-centric, I believe.
I do know that I can get the "subscribe" URL (authorize_interaction for Mastodon and some other platforms) if I know your username.
So let's say I have an input field on a page that asks you just that.
I can then fetch:
https://server.social/.well-known/webfinger?resource=acct:user@server.social
Which I believe works across all fediverse platforms?

Le scrivo in ricordo di una divertente rubrica di stoncature che tanti anni fa Roberto Cotroneo gestiva sulla rivista L'Espresso.
Cotroneo evidenziava solo gli aspetti negativi di opere letterarie, a volte incuriosendo e facendo venire in realtà voglia di leggerle.
Allo stesso modo sottolineo in modo schezoso il lato tossico di certi pensieri, ma solo per riflettere un po'.
