John Swinney has announced that he's going to bring all buses in Scotland into public ownership.

Very well done to public transport campaigners over many years to make this once impossible policy inevitable.

He's going to do it "through franchising and regulation", so he'll be following the model called for in the joint paper by Common Weal, Get Glasgow Moving and Living Rent

Zelenskyy with the receipts:

Quote from Zelenskyy: "To understand whether these are really technical problems at SpaceX, or whether it is some kind of operation or agreement to restrict us, to disconnect us, to prevent us from defending ourselves and protecting our people... we sent a couple of cars with Starlink to the territory of European Union countries, and they drove at speeds of over 180 km/h where permitted. Starlink works. We have the corresponding records and the corresponding evidence."

It’s Musk who reportedly approached Trump with the plan to introduce Starshield speed limits. Trump agreed. They both have Ukrainian blood on their hands.

Together with the brilliant @chlobemy, I have written a first commentary of the #EU's proposed #Cloud and #AI Development Act #CADA.

Unfortunately, this Regulation represents everything that’s wrong with Europe’s current approach to #DigitalSovereignty.

A federal court said it’s reasonable for noncitizens to self-censor when the government is monitoring their posts and threatening deportation. This is a First Amendment harm. Here’s why our social media surveillance lawsuit is moving forward:

@vernissage Congrats on the release! We should discuss location federation, we are working on a FEP, and would love you to co-author it if you are interested ❤️

Update. "OpenAlex…now indexes nearly every journal published with Open Journal Systems (#OJS). Of the more than 55,000 active journals using OJS, 95% now have articles in OpenAlex —up from 80% a month ago. More than 10,000 journals appear in OpenAlex for the first time…In 2022…Web of Science and Scopus included only about 1% and 7% of them, respectively…In conversation with the PKP team over the course of this year, the OpenAlex team has found a way forward. PKP provided the public list of active OJS journals for OpenAlex to harvest articles directly, rather than waiting for those articles to arrive through Crossref, DataCite, or other aggregators. It is a good example of what open infrastructure makes possible: open source software, an open metadata standard, and an inclusive index willing to use them."
