It's leftovers night and I just had a bunch of chicken vindaloo and I'm about to have a big bowl of chili. What could go wrong? Not a goddamn thing, that's what.

Major breach of an emergency notification provider (CodeRed/Onsolve), which is a very bad thing.
“Dear Valued Customer,
Further to our previous communications, we’d like to provide you with an update regarding the cybersecurity incident which damaged the OnSolve CodeRED environment in a targeted attack by an organized cybercriminal group. Our forensic analysis continues to indicate that this is an incident strictly contained within the OnSolve CodeRED environment with no contagion beyond.
We have learned that data associated with the legacy OnSolve CodeRED platform was removed from our systems. While there is currently no indication that this data has been published online, we are proactively informing you that it may be leaked.
It appears that the impacted dataset may contain contact information of OnSolve CodeRED users: name, address, email address, phone numbers, and/or associated passwords used to create user profiles for alerts. If the same password is used by users for any other personal or business accounts, those passwords should be changed immediately.”

(this is a very bad one for this industry, with fair disclosure I am currently doing contract work for a competitor)
@davidgerard I don't have access to this article, but the headline sure is interesting 👀

Here is a void cat who just floor-is-lava-traversed the whole living room from the TV stand to the windowsill to the cat tree to another windowsill to the back of the couch to another windowsill to a random box to a dining room chair and up onto the tall dining room windowsill...and now she is stuck and crying pitifully for help.

UPDATE: I rescued her, floor-is-lava is exhausting. #CatsOfMastodon #Cats
@nolitimere yes, I tend to think apprenticeship is a much better model for education. Also libraries are so much better than classrooms. We need libraries that employ all kinds of librarians who themselves are networked with local masters of different crafts, disciplines and fields.
@impermanen_ Agreed.
Except I wish there was a better word than “master”, which has strong male and domination connotations. Maybe “expert” in this context.
@Whiskeyomega @DoubleTreble
I've seen several.
I can't tell the wheat from the chaff, so I block them all.
Reporting them doesn't feel right because some of them /may/ be genuine, and I can't see any way of telling
@joselu en mi (limitada) experiencia, viene siendo así
@joselu la wikipedia la puede editar cualquiera, pero Google es una empresa seria, hombre
Our latest EuroBSDCon trip report from Leah Budzicka highlights continued interest in FreeBSD among newer and younger developers. Leah discovered the Foundation’s travel grant opportunity on Mastodon, attended the conference through Foundation support, and shared their experience with the broader community.

If you’re new to FreeBSD, we welcome you to explore the Project. What questions do you have about getting involved?
I'm not sure if I follow.
@lowqualityfacts
Patriachy doesnt exist because women are now *allowed* to correctly state a fact that contradicts a male assertion
They may be:
Paid less
Mocked
Ignored
Threatened
Assulted
For being correct but disagreeing is allowed
So thats ok, thanks Clint - wanker

@bretthaines @catsalad As an admin I can add custom CSS to Mastodon, we may as well just unlock that for the profile page too. 🥹
People of Hoevelaken love putting items in dedicated boxes. #Dog poop goes here.
What do you recommend?
@catsalad I recommend buying Christmas gifts in October and November.
@TheBreadmonkey
I asked someone if they'd ever seen one and I'm now banned from a number of pubs.
This evening’s task to to finally work out how to get my Garmin Fenix to track treadmill runs sensibly (if it can).
And at the opposite end of the #running spectrum, I’m looking for suggestions for good route (including trails) mapping and suggestion sites/apps. I know Strava includes them in the paid subscription but I’m trying to resist and AllTrails seems pretty unpopular with users these days so what else do people use?
@simon Have you tried Garmin’s own app? The web version is somewhat usable to find routes and create your own.
Alternatively, check out Komoot and Trailforks (they were originally bike oriented, but have a lot of running routes). WikiLoc is another good option.
Weee, Backblaze is doing maintenance to #B2 on Thursday 4 December 6am to 12pm local. Once again no consideration to customers outside of the USA. Time to relocate that workload locally #backblaze
I've been working on Ganzua, a #Python tool that helps with uv/Poetry dependency updates. For example, you can get a Markdown table showing differences between two lockfile versions, or bump pyproject.toml constraints after an update.

The hummingbirds today were so fast! I could see four, each within a few feet of one another, perched high in this tree with purple flowers and orange fruits.
A female experimenter, appearing pregnant, boarded the train. In the experimental condition, an additional experimenter dressed as Batman entered from another door. Passengers were significantly more likely to offer their seat when Batman was present (67.21% vs. 37.66%).

@estherschindler Batman is a delusion of Bruce Wayne, a rich inmate of Arkham, the luxurious private upstate institution for rich "eccentrics." Poor guy was institutionalized as a child after witnessing his parents' brutal murder.
