@KtoBB8 Seems expensive!
@vfrmedia yeah I realise I am very privileged that my parents are financially stable, and not everyone has parents in that position. I think I always thought "not having to worry about money month to month" was when you'd finally made it as a proper adult. And while I'm doing better than I ever have I think I'm sort of coming to terms with the fact I'll probably never get there at the same time I'm realising my eyes and knees are going downhill, which I always thought would sort of happen at the same time 😂
@afewbugs I think my mum was in her 60s before she was financially stable (dad had already passed away due to serious long illness in late 50s). My mum made it to her early 70s but also had some bad health problems, so now I have to worry whether I have inherited any of these (so far I've been OK, although I have to eat mouse-size portions of food to keep weight down so as not to stress my knees, and sometimes have to use safety specs with +1,00 magnifier lens if doing close work)
okay the evil test program lives.
@siracusa If you never use the other apps, maybe just delete them? 🤷♂️
@goc I never use them for *reminders*, but they do other things…
First trailer for ‘THE EYES OF GHANA’, the first-ever film produced by IShowSpeed.
The documentary follows Ghanaian cinematographer Chris Hesse who attempts to rescue more than 1,000 films capturing Africa’s fight for independence in the 1950s & ’60s.
Just as fossil fuel companies and their cronies sow doubt about scientific knowledge on climate change in order to prevent the development of non-fossil fuel resources, they’re doing the same thing now to climate attribution science to avoid accountability for climate damage. Pay attention!
@bremner yup rotates and clicks and crown screws down, you can actually use it for diving should you want to (I don’t)
@thomasfuchs I used to dive with mine, but these days I have too many other gadgets that both make it redundant and get in the way of strapping on a watch. For actual diving I much prefer "bungee mounts" that stretch and let me pull something onto my (wet suited) arm, but that exceeds even my dorky tolerance for non-diving wear.

Now that we’ve abolished leap seconds, and won’t tweak standard time to match the rotation of the Earth until the discrepancy reaches 1 hour, we should establish a generation-spanning secret society that shuffles objects around to make Earth’s spin conform to atomic time instead.

Something very different today, the Casio Duro
@thomasfuchs Very nice! I’ve got the green version
Have you been making websites for years? How are you feeling about the current state of things?
@jensimmons https://daringfireball.net/2026/05/what_is_a_dickover sums it up for me.
You used to rely on MapQuest for printing out driving directions before GPS navigation was a thing. Now it's helping to fight mass surveillance. https://this.weekinsecurity.com/mapquest-now-lets-you-locate-nearby-surveillance-cameras-like-flock/
@zackwhittaker Actually, I used a Thomas Guide when I was a young adult.
