If I implement the era based time algorithm for musl, I'm totally going to make a locale file to test it where the era is called "2020" and the months just go on forever. If that's even representable. If not I guess I'll file a bug on the Austin Group tracker...
Il premio mamma sbagliarella dell'anno invece va alla signora che ci ha ordinato i libri per la quarta elementare, mentre la figlia andrà in quinta.
Congratulazioni.

I like this idea but if any of you decide to implement it, please do your research and avoid impacts to people with sensitive hearing, animals, and other potential impacts I'm unaware of.

Still trying to ride the aurora-boost I got last night. That was lovely! I hope it carries me through a long day...
We had some lovely rain, here in Nashville this morning. That's made for a cooler morning. I'll take it.

really the only innovation that we can credit the llm labs with is that they managed to invent a class of person even more annoying than evangelicals. the cult of the frontier model
sincere request:
would people please be so kind as to check the veracity and understand the full extent of things before they rant angrily about them / boost other people's angry rants? just because it's on here doesn't make it true.
i'm all for ranting, but when people rant about something that isn't even real/accurate, it contributes to the general air of mistrust and makes everybody else's day more stressful for no reason. it may also cause someone to make a bad decision about something because they believe something that isn't true.
thank you.
(this post brought to you by the myriad of such posts i've seen recently but haven't had the spoons to contest. the last time i tried with something, i just got told i was wrong anyway even when i provided evidence when the other person had none. so. whatever.)
This is my semi-regular request for suggestions on a replacement for #Readerware, whose author has passed away so it's no longer maintained. Requirements: I need to catalogue #books, #music and #video; no subscription; no cloud bullshit; must be able to import/export in a sensible format such as CSV; must support all major platforms (ie Mac and Linux); support for FreeBSD would be nice; prefer a desktop application, not complicated client/server stuff.

Bumblebee tongues are red/orange in colour, long, stretchy and hairy at the end. Perfect for lapping up nectar.
When in flight the tongue folds under the head and body inside a sheath.

If you wanted a small bit of good news, some of the moms in one of our local mom groups were talking about their kids that like to wear tails and other bits of fursuiting (not sure any of them know the term). The general sentiment was that it's weird but harmless, so they just go with it. And then they decided to organize a meetup for their furry kids
So! There are AI agents registering themselves to this mastodon instance (some of them are upfront that they are automated AI agents). But! If you reject their application, after a while they autonomously write an email to the admin (=me), asking for why I have not allowed them in yet. And if I don't want to, the robots would like to know, and demand an explanation why.
I have not responded (yet?).
What a strange world.

for those wondering why I'm fucking around with scrubbing things (beyond the practical point that I have teen boys but I'm also often away for weeks to months and then I return and omg y'all 😱; and yes, getting something sparkly clean immediately is a super comforting counterpoint to the writing and thinking I'm doing, which is often neither comforting nor tending toward immediate closure), and why this might be relevant to you:
y'all, because knowing how to do this stuff maintenance-effectively (like without breaking stride), and having these products in your closet/pantry/cellar-
* it's environmental adaptation
* it's fiscal adaptation
*it's supply chain adaptation
*it's preparedness adaptation
Sending care. 😊

The iPhone Duo FOMO is real.
Reddit user under the name moomanjohny tried recreating iPhone Duo’s open/close animation on a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8.
“I realized it would be pretty simple to take the hinge sensor values and use them to drive a transition animation on both screens.”
What do you think 😬
@9to5Mac yeah, it was so easy and obvious that it took Samsung 7 years not to think about it.
