One bergamot bloom, slightly spent (the middle is green and not lilac anymore). A bumblebee is eating nectar in one of the tubes, each eye on each side of one tube. Almost looks like a spider like that??

A Red-Spotted Purple butterfly (Limenitis arthemis astyanax) on the purple coneflowers. The red spots at top corner of the wings are barely visible. But the shimmery blue color stands out.

A large butterfly on the reddish-orange center of a purple coneflower. The butterfly's wings are almost black at the top, then fade to blue toward the bottom. The edges of the wings have a row a blue dots outlined in black.

Hang on - whaaat!? "Plants can 'hear' bees buzzing and serve up more nectar when they are nearby, scientists have found. Amazingly, they can tell the difference between a bee’s buzz and that of a non-pollinating insect such as a wasp."
