@wdlindsy One obvious plan behind this: he's telling his faithful that he's de-escalating, and then a few days later he can claim that he "tried to be nice, gave them a chance" but "the violence continued", so now he has to really clamp down. "Tough on crime", "the worst of the worst" and all that insane BS.
