Darren L. Linvill, a researcher at Clemson University’s #Media Forensics Hub, said #conservatives online were “building up the riots in a performative way” to help bolster #Trump’s claims that #LosAngeles had been taken over by “violent, insurrectionist mobs.”

There were numerous scenes of protesters throwing rocks or other objects at law enforcement officers & setting cars ablaze, including a number of self-driving #Waymo taxis. I try to skim at least a few of these rural papers every time I visit whānau and friends in the country. Other papers that turn up in North Canterbury letterboxes along with Canterbury Farming include the North Canterbury News, Farmer's Weekly, and Stuff's Northern Outlook (imaginatively translated into Te Reo as "Te Pānui" - literally 'the news").
Most of them are shot through with a similar style of industry-friendly talking points, presented as uncontroversial facts.

We're all concerned about online dis/misinformation, and fair enough. But a skim of these rural papers are a reminder that not all disinformation is delivered online.
It also strikes me that restoring the media ecosystems of rural areas may be just as important as rejuvenating their soil and wilderness. Indeed, the one might be a prerequisite to the other. So what can be done?
