A disused 1920s crematorium, in Romania. Its design blends classical planning with early modernist and Art Deco influences.

Eastern Orthodox belief, which rejects cremation in favour of burial, shaped funerary customs in early 20th-century Romania. Even today, cremation remains rare in Romania, accounting for less than one percent of funerals.

Imagine getting arrested for the body you've always wanted? Well, that's exactly what happened to the Harvard University morgue manager.

Dark humor aside, Harvard University Medical School Morgue Manager Cedric Lodge and his wife were stealing and selling the scalps, heads, skin, bones, and hearts of those who would be used by medical students. Whoa, if that isn't fucked up enough...

From the article:

"That's where the investigation originated, after local police in the township of East Pennsboro found a bucket of body parts in the basement of a collector and reseller named Jeremy Pauley. The discovery led investigators back to the Lodges, who they say were a hub in a nationwide network that sold or traded human remains."
