These Lost Tanks stand rusted in place in western #Germany, inside a 220-hectare area that once served as an armed forces training ground. The tanks were used as hard targets for artillery practice, but this area of the forest is now a protected nature reserve.
Some tanks sit in wet pasture where ponds have formed in old track marks. Others rest among the mixed spruce, pine and beech forest.

This impressive building began as a seminary in the 1820s and later treated more than 8000 Belgian soldiers during the First World War. It also sheltered local families during the heavy bombing of the Second World War. The site then operated as a retirement home for ex-servicemen until its closure around the start of the 21st century.
