The island has a population of about 10,000 in the winter months. Annually some 650,000 people visit Skye mainly in the summer. The snow doesn’t lie for long except on the higher peaks. Winter is not a season lacking in colour. The palette is no less interesting and has a wide range. It isn’t all grey.

I took this at 13:26 hours on Monday. It wasn’t dark. Nothing like it. In the other direction it was a clear day. This view made me stop the car and take a quick shot. It is not enhanced except by cropping. It is a close-up. I was ready for it.
