Nerd Alert: There will be a #DigitalHumanities Assembly within the #BitsUndBaeume Habitat at #39C3. We named it #DHall: Digital Humanities For All. Some people are already putting meetups and workshops together. Let me know if you want to contribute, or just create a proposal and add it to DHall. Check out the announcement: https://events.ccc.de/congress/2025/hub/de/assembly/detail/dhall
What You Hack Is What You Mean: My #TEI talk at #39C3 will elaborate on how to turn literature, research, and even hacker lore into machine-readable, remixable, and sustainable data by using the guidelines of the Text Encoding Initiative. https://events.ccc.de/congress/2025/hub/de/event/detail/what-you-hack-is-what-you-mean-35-years-of-wiring-sense-into-text #DigitalHumanities #XML
'For me, 'digital humanities' is 'humanities amid the digital capabilities we have'. Most of my programming and scripting is less about consciously defining new digital paradigms for humanities research and much more about 'eradicating the boring and repetitive research tasks, making my life easier thereby'.' Worried about the environmental impact of using #LLMs in ( #DH ) research, but not sure where to start?
I got you covered!
We reviewed the research and ran a #DigitalHumanities case study with carbon reporting, sharing tools, code & all the info we collected:
Lang, Sarah et al. “Quantifying the Environmental Footprint of Curating Datasets with LLMs”. Zenodo, December 11, 2025. https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.17902822. ( #DHd #GreeningDH)

One of the things that has been on my to do list for a very long time, is building a gallery of all of the charts I've made across #TidyTuesday, #30DayChartChallenge, #30DayMapChallenge, and other miscellaneous projects 📊
And it's finally here!

Those are all amazing! Thanks so much for posting this. Will definitely use in my next class on #visualization in #DigitalHumanities.
Teaching students simple #WebScraping was always quite rewarding. It opens up numerous relevant, real-world data sources that are the foundation for any further analysis. Things already got more complicated with dynamic content loading, but now bot-exclusion-mechanisms make it almost impossible in many cases. Is web scraping for the #DigitalHumanities dead?
– Linked Open Data is second nature to us Digital Humanists, so it's easy to forget that the average person probably only knows basic metadata models like Dublin Core and CIDOC-CRM.
– And FRBR, of course.
– Of course.

The #CallForPapers for the #HistoricalNetworkResearch conference #HNR2026 has been extended to Dec. 21! So still some time to submit something and visit beautiful Turin. https://historicalnetworkresearch.github.io/turin/cfp/ #DigitalHumanities #NetworkAnalysis

@checkervest Fritz Weaver does an over-the-top dystopian future courtroom scene like no other
I love both episodes
