We at @credativde@mastodon.social are launching our very first & free open-source virtualization gathering in Germany, Mönchengladbach.
This new community event brings together everyone who’s passionate about open virtualization technologies, whether it’s Proxmox VE, XCP-ng, bhyve, Harvester, or any of the countless projects that make open infrastructure thrive. It’s about sharing experiences, learning from each other, and connecting with those who build and rely on open platforms every day.
We start the evening with two talks:
* "Enterprise-Ready? How people use Proxmox VE & Ceph" by Ronald Otto from Tuxis B.V.
* "BoxyBSD – Creating a free VPS hosting platform" by Florian Paul Azim Hoberg from credativ GmbH
Afterwards, the space opens up for discussion, networking, and casual chats. If you like to join with a talk, please feel free to reach out to me.

@youyoubilly Hey Billy,
I really love your uConsole KVM extension board! I have a (maybe silly) question: I found the Openterface KVM Extension for uConsole listed on Elecrow, but there isn't an option to purchase it right now. Is it currently unavailable? Will it be available in the Elecrow shop soon?
By the way, when searching for posts on Mastodon, hashtags are super important:

For all my #Linux friends, or those looking to get away from #Microsoft #Windows11 I've recently found the most fantastic program (Note that it's in Beta still) called #WinBoat
It lets you run Windows applications windowless through #kvm using #Docker on your Linux desktop, giving it an almost native application feel.
If anyone knows a way to get these dev's sponsored they need help working out GPU bypass so that #LinuxGaming becomes an option as well.

Hey @homelab folks. I'm looking for an IP KVM capable of connecting multiple devices, and that won't bankrupt me. I know the PiKVM is one of the best, but the base module plus the 4 devices module is just too much money. What else is out there?
In case you wanna know, my fall-back solution, in case nothing pans out, would be the GL.iNet Comet (single device, $89 in the US). So I guess I'm willing to go up to $200, maybe $300 maximum. For sure not the $650 of a full PiKVM setup.
I just released ProxLB 1.1.7 for Proxmox - bringing in DRS alike VM resource based balancing to your Proxmox cluster!
What is ProxLB?
The Prox Load Balancer (ProxLB) helps you to rebalance your Container and VM workloads across your nodes in your Proxmox cluster based on the resource usage of nodes (e.g., CPU, memory, local disk).
Changelog:
* Add conntrack state aware migrations of VMs. (Closes: 305)
* Add graceful shutdown for SIGINT command. (Closes: 304)
* Fix crash when validating absent migration job ids. (Closes: 308)
* Fix guest object names are not being evaluated in debug log. (Closes: 310)
* Note: Have a great Dutch Proxmox Day 2025!
ProxLB is fully #opensource and under #GPL (#GPLv3).

My friends, I'm so excited and happy to introduce a new project: the illumos Cafe!
The positive and constructive spirit of the BSD Cafe, created and maintained by all the friends who participated from day one in building a strong and friendly community, deserves to spread to other operating systems. Because there are other OSes that deserve attention, certainly more than they're getting right now.
Operating systems based on illumos (like SmartOS, OmniOS, Tribblix, OpenIndiana, etc.) are mature, stable, secure, and perfectly usable for a wide range of tasks. ZFS is native, zones are an excellent method for containerization, and bhyve and kvm coexist beautifully - and so much more, too much to list in a single post.
So from today, the illumos Cafe will stand alongside the BSD Cafe in creating a positive, respectful, and growth-oriented (but also relaxing!) environment, starting right here in the Fediverse with a Mastodon instance and a snac one.
I've written an introductory article about the project, including some technical details. I invite everyone interested to read it: https://it-notes.dragas.net/2025/08/18/introducing-the-illumos-cafe/
Choose your table, take a seat and enjoy your time at the illumos Cafe!

🤫 Pssssst - ProxLB 1.1.5 for your Proxmox Clusters has been released!
Just one small new feature:
* You can now use custom ports for the API request
This becomes handy when using additional/external load balancers on different ports than tcp/8006. Have fun :)

I just received my @jetkvm ! I’m 6 years old and it’s Christmas!
I’m supposed to get my JetKVM tomorrow at long last!
I haven’t been this excited about receiving a new toy since I was 10 years old 😄
