A safer, more resilient Europe.

The next EU budget will unite civil protection, health preparedness and defence to keep people safe:

🌊 Rapid crisis response across Member States
🛡️ Stronger defence and cybersecurity
🩺 Better health emergency preparedness
🚀 Innovation in defence and crisis management

With €10.7B propsoed for civil protection and health and €131B for Defence and Space, we’re building a Europe ready for any challenge.

We are proposing 131 billion euros for the defense and space window within the competitiveness fund. That is five times of what we have today because we know that security is a top concern for citizens and governments, and it will strengthen our industrial base and our capabilities. This will drive new investments, make mobility easier, and ensure continued support for Ukraine and its defense industry. We are also proposing to invest 10.7 billion Euro to strengthen civil protection and improve how we respond to health emergencies. This will help keep people safe from extreme weather, hybrid attacks, power outages, and the spread of diseases, our commitment to a stronger, more secure Europe.

Money alone will not keep you safe or better prepared Ursula. You need to step-up your #Leadership. @EUCommission

🧵1/2 📣 Rejecting #Misogyny is #Patriotism

🗣️As a #coach, an uncle, and a son, I have a responsibility to speak out against this culture of disrespect and misogyny. I call upon others in the sports and #fitness industry to do the same—not tomorrow, but today.

🚨The sexualization of #WNBA athletes, the rhetoric from elected leaders, and the constant mockery of women’s dignity by social media influencers are not isolated incidents. These are deliberate, dehumanizing actions, reflected in

… in their homes, workplaces, and public spaces.

🎯Silence teaches the next generation that power means domination.

➡️ We must reject this unequivocally—not just with words, but with our actions. Because true leadership is defined by integrity, and the dignity, safety, and humanity of women are non-negotiable.

Basically, a love letter to #FOSS and the #Fediverse… with room for improvement (especially on the hardware front)

Absolutely! And thanks for walking the talk so thoughtfully, this so resonates & yet it's so unusual I hardly have words to think about it, which is why your example is so valuable: "« In this age of #technofeudalism every writer who covers technology - especially resistance to #BigTech - should disclose their tech stack. Here's mine »"

Ah... Leading by example!
Also... I finally understand the concept of 'tech stack'! Thanks again! 🙏

🧵National Night Out 2025✨

Community isn’t built in a day—but it starts with showing up.

A few years ago, I had a conversation with then-Captain Cronin—now Chief of Police here in Malden. I thanked him and the Malden PD for doing something simple but powerful: walking the streets, talking with residents, and making sure minority voices weren’t just heard, but respected.

That kind of presence matters. It’s how we start building bridges in our…

…community, which is why I’m proud to support events like National Night Out, happening this Tuesday, August 5th at MacDonald Stadium. Free food, music, and a chance to meet the officers and community public safety partners who serve our city.

Thank you to the Malden Police Department for their continued dedication to building trust and showing up for our community.

🇺🇸Never forget: The Constitution cannot be selectively applied or disregarded when inconvenient. Rights aren’t reserved for the few—they’re guaranteed for all. History reminds us that when one group is dehumanized, others are never far behind.

Your voice matters. Don’t let silence win. Know your rights, and protect the rights of those you serve…

👉🏽 As Coach Wilder puts it:
“The only way you can protect people is understanding that the Constitution has a role. And we have to rely on that. And we can’t cherry-pick it.”
