On a more serious note, museums staff in France have been complaining for years about lack of budget, of staff and more. The Louvre staff even went on strike last Spring because of that. The ministry of culture superbly ignored them (and probably mocked them in private with a "let them eat cake."
Oh,.btw, it's the same ministry of culture that is making the rounds of every TV channel right now to cry about the robbery.
