I was confused as to why this became news. And then I realized that the story originated in the US, a country where people go shopping in their pajamas. 🤷♂️
Update: The mystery man in the photos after the Louvre heist has been unmasked, and it turns out he's a teenager who just wanted to visit the museum that day. 15-year-old Pedro Elias Garzon Delvaux began dressing this way less than a year ago. "I like to be chic," he told @AssociatedPress. "I go to school like this." Here's more.
The museum Louvre in France was recently the victim of a heist worth over €88 million. In broad daylight.
A previous security audit revealed the following weaknesses with their security system:
1. Their password was “louvre”
2. Their security system was running on Windows 2000
Ouch.

I warn you - this will physically hurt to read:
> How did the experts succeed in their intrusion? Mainly by the weakness of certain passwords that Anssi politely describes as “trivial”: type “LOUVRE” to access a server managing the video surveillance of the museum, or “THALES” to access one of the software published by... Thales.

Petty criminals rather than professionals from the world of organized crime executed the daytime robbery of historical jewels worth $102 million from the Louvre museum last month, the Paris prosecutor said. https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2025/11/03/world/crime-legal/louvre-heist-not-organized-crime/?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=mastodon #worldnews #crimelegal #paris #france #louvre #theft #organizedcrime
Idk, they pulled off a successful heist. Does this mean they've graduated from Heist School and can call themselves professionals now? Maybe update their LinkedIn profile?
Se ve lo stavate chiedendo: no, la password del server della sicurezza dei Musei Vaticani non è 'Amen'.
#Louvre
La password dei server della videosorveglianza del #Louvre era 'Louvre'.
