"responsible LLM usage" is the "clean coal" of the tech world
On alternatives to Google Maps, if you're in France CartesIGN, which is publicly-owned, is just brilliant.
On Google's naming practice - it has had the name of a village near us in Brittany wrong for at least 2 years. Not politics, just incompetence.
CartesIGN has it right.
Report: "The British state has lost the argument, even as it rigs the trials of genocide opponents".
The state rigged the trial of Jewish peace activist Tony Greenstein to get him jailed for up to 14 years for so-called “inviting support for Hamas”.
Greenstein spoke directly to the jury, demolishing the sham charges & exposing the political show trial.
The jury unanimously acquitted him.

@djsumdog This is quite a jumble of unrelated stuff. Let's start with the general dunking on Aotearoa;
> Your nation has some of the highest electricity costs in the world
Agreed. Mainly due to corporatising most of what was a publicly-owned electricity network, including the renewable generation. Although it's only expensive if you're paying retail bills, not for industrial users buying on the spot market.

> Your nationalized airline failed as is now private
It failed because it got sold off. It was mostly renationalised, then partly sold off again a couple of governments back. Similar story to what happened with KiwiRail. Yet Business Idiots keep promoting the idea of selling out public infrastructure ("recycling" public assets is the most recent buzzphrase they've tried).

Why did Norwegian teachers wear paper clips during World War 2? Paper clips represented a small symbol of resistance signaling how the country’s educators and learners remained united- bound together like a stack of papers- against Nazi rule.
I just noticed that in the new Naked Gun, they renamed the Crypto Dot Com Arena in LA to the Ponzi Scheme Dot Com Arena.
A+ work
What should our next #Monsterdon movie be?
That's exactly what @onepict has been warning about the tech industry for a long time, and is being proved right 😞
@FediThing @cairobraga It all boils down to objectification and dehumanisation.
So the fight is intersectional.
"They attacked us!"
"When?"
"On American soil!"
"What? How? Is anyone dead?"
"No."
"So what do you mean they attacked us?"
"They attacked our Troops!"
"What, when, how?"
"They... cyber attacked the troops fridges but THIS MEANS WAR!"
lol gimme a fucking break. Send GI Joe to the 7 Eleven for a burito like the rest of us I do not fucking care about this.

clearly ROAR Magazine's blog has been taken over by some kind of spammer, but i can't make sense of these odd articles. for example,
"Dalam artikel ini, kita akan membahas cara menggunakan link alternatif rp888 slot casino dengan aman. Banyak pemain yang mencari cara untuk mengakses RP888 Casino secara efektif, terutama ketika menghadapi kendala akses. Kami akan mengeksplorasi berbagai metode, berbagi pengalaman nyata dari pemain, serta memberikan tips untuk memastikan keamanan dan kenyamanan saat bermain di platform ini. Mengapa"
this is not a real language, as far as i can tell... anyone know what fresh hell this is?
(some of the spam is actual English, so i'm only asking about the fake language shit)
This is typical Southeast Asian online casino spam. I knew as soon as I saw "888" sprinkled through the text. Back when sfba.social still had open signups, we used to suspend multiple of these things on a daily basis. Sometimes they post in English, but sometimes in other languages. (This one is a real language, btw.)

"AI helps with my disability"
AI *causes* disability. But that's in poor black kids, and fuck them, right?
this is not new information, you knew this already. don't pretend to ethical values.
@davidgerard This discussion reminds me of the plastic straw thing a decade ago. Plastic waste in the ocean harms marine life, and that waste overwhelming comes from the fishing industry. But the public discussion focused on personal use, especially plastic straws. Why were they available everywhere? Why were people using them? Weren't the people who claimed to need them selfish and shallow and unethical?
Disabled people became footballs in that conversation, on both sides. We were a convenient lightning rod and smokescreen, while the industry truly responsible could be ignored.
Who is using the majority of AI tokens? Who is shoving LLMs into everything and making them inescapable? It's not individuals with disabilities.
But you knew that already.
