I think the plotting of the different parties is accurate though (by 2026 standards) there's a linier chart I keep seeing shared on Bluesky that clusters most mainstream parties on the far-right which I think is inaccurate and unhelpful
@byroncclark It depends which policies you focus on of course, and there's far more than two dimensions in reality.
But if you were to compare with post-war governments throughout the west where even the right ran 67% top tax rates on heavily regulated industry, pro-union stances, massive state building programs, and cradle-to-grave benefit systems, it's pretty easy to set a middle point where most are far to the economic right of that.
Like, the left won the war, and it took until the 80's and 90's to undo that back to liberalism, and now it's contested by fascism again. Things that focus on "relative to today's average" miss that, the world used to be very different, there's nothing about this world which is set in stone, and the "traditional" parties just aren't.
The US just designated an Italian hacker collective (similar to Riseup) a terrorist organization. Please read this article about Autistici/Inventati, which I’ve reposted from Sabot Media https://micahflee.com/the-server-called-paranoia-defend-autistici-inventati/
Best argument for bike lanes in Edmonton that I’ve ever seen. Bravo @apaquette.bsky.social@bsky.brid.gy

Movin and Groovin — Aaron Paqu...
I dunno, like yeah I get it fascism is not a mental health issue - but also, when most people find out they're wrong about something, they just stop being wrong. They don't create an elaborate fantasy structure where they're maybe kinda sorta right, and then empower a police state to literally fucking murder you if you don't pretend their wrong is in fact right.
It's not healthy behavior, obviously.
The horrific disaster in Nepal, the loss, a region suddenly both unlivable and unrecognisable, hints at the scale of what we are doing to the planet as a function of climate destruction.
There seems to be a subset of Americans who get actively offended if you admit that you actually prefer to get around in a local area in other ways than using a private car.
I've been saying for years that in the US, getting your driver's license is the new rite of passage.

Other authors: I’ve been writing smut for ages. But actually, purity culture looks pretty appealing. No more 🌶️.
Me: Purity culture needs to die in a fire. Clearly now’s the time to start writing sweary, spicy books about queer people recovering from toxic purity culture. 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️🤬🔥🌶️
"Really? 'Prove you're not a robot'? The 21st century called, they want their website back.
"That was really only the first half, you know"
"I know, the second half was worse. 'Don't ask, don't tell'. My Gran had to go on the run when the MAHAs outed her."
"Wasn't she big in the resistance, later?"
"You don't know the story? Done lecturing me on synth history, then?"
"Go on, tell"
"Got you; No can tell. If you knew anything you'd know the first rule of the resistance is chmod -w /var/log".
@dolanor I don't watch TV/movies (and I boycott YouTube because of their ghastly advertising and recommendations algorithm).
it sure is weird how having anyone associated with Palantir or Anduril or any of the companies whose purpose is making software that kills (“are you ok with your software being used to kill people” is a standard Palantir interview question, no I’m not kidding) in an open source project always leads to control over key parts of the project being yielded to untalented right-wing stooges, an exodus of core maintainers due directly to the actions of the Palantir/whoever plants, and a barely functioning project overall
there’s lots and lots and lots of nontechnical reasons to not allow fascists who write software for murder in your project, but uhhh the technical end ain’t looking good
if you don’t believe me you can look at Rust, NixOS, and neovim
no I won’t just tell you what happened to these projects. what happened was public and loud, and you weren’t paying attention. it’s time for you to learn what a fascist takeover looks like and what happens when it works.
@AnarchoNinaWrites I always find it curious how many of them openly admit Trump, Milei, Bolsonaro... have tanked the economy and the reputation of their countries, yet they still wanna vote their counterparts because "he won't do the same, he's different, he loves us, look at all the things he's promised".
