Deshalb auf die Schnelle: Wir haben es geschafft - alle MA des Medienzentrum Frankfurt haben jetzt ihren Mailaccount bei einem europäischen Anbieter. Zeitgleich haben wir für die interne Kommunikation auf Nextcloud Talk umgestellt. Und weil es so einfach war, dann auch OneDrive durch Nextcloud ersetzt. Alle verwenden jetzt Thunderbird auf diversen Geräten (Office, Smartphone, Homeoffice) als Mail- und Adress-Client. Einige Ausnahmen (Apple, ich schau’ dich an) müssen bis zur Verfügbarkeit auf Alternativen ausweichen. Office-Paket ist LibreOffice. D.h., dass wir Office365 “abschalten” können. Müssen wir aber gar nicht selbst machen, erledigt MS ja automatisch für uns. Wie bei allen anderen “kostenlosen” Konten für Vereine.

While the reasons for fleeing, such as droughts caused by man-made climate change, poverty, and war, are increasing, the EU is not taking political responsibility for its own complicity in these problems but continues to seal itself off.

Exactly six years ago, our crew completed their first rotation and were able to assist 300 people in distress at sea.

We are still at sea today; rather than the reasons for our work being resolved through political measures, both people on the move and we ourselves are being threatened by EU-funded Libyan militias, which is making our work immensely difficult.

Sovereign investment in #opensource software can be the most efficient use of public funds imaginable.

Its not a panacea, its not without its own risks but it has been a blind spot for too long.

A digital society built on top of #adtech and #bigtech is a grotesque dystopia but somehow the message takes too long to reach the brain of the dinosaur.

Published a big update to my #Emacs envrc.el package, of particular interest to folks using #direnv with #nix or #guix: it now has carefully designed (but optional) support for asynchronous loading of environments, so Emacs doesn't need to block when your project's shell environment takes a while to reload.
