the one problem i'm kinda struggling with right now is how should a society handle it if the appearance of convenient options (whether it's algorithmic recommendations, infinite scrolls, generative a.i. chatbots or other such things) actually leads to a decline in, say, critical thinking
like, on one hand, you can't force people to get educated enough in order to live, and a lot of ideas some people have in that area seem kinda eugenics-y or survival-of-the-fittest-y
but also, we are all part of a society, and i don't know how a democracy can function if so many people are incapable or unwilling of thinking critically
having said that, i still think the most apocalyptic predictions about a.i. rely on things staying the same, whereas it's now getting increasingly clear that the a.i. bubble will eventually burst -- my bet is before 2030
and as they say, "in the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king"
