At some point, I got a small laptop (eeepc 701) and downloaded the entire SNES library, and then I spent my time exploring that. (Exploring in this case meant playing most games for less than 10 minutes, before jumping to another title.)
I didn't realize it at the time, but something fundamental was shifting in the way I expected media to work.
I had more storage space (I'd add ~4GB a week in the form of flash drives or SD cards, then 8, then 16)
I stoped thinking of the things I downloaded like rentals, and started treating them more like purchases. (I'll want that for later! I should go ahead and download that, just in case.)
I got a 500GB external disk. It filled quickly. I got another.
A Terabyte of media!
And so much of it unexplored or underexplored.

The universe bursts with a billion forms of life and a trillion ways of being. And some people still think love should only come in one flavor? How dreadfully boring! That's like a painter only using beige. Love's not a uniform, it's a grand, chaotic, magnificent tapestry. Use ALL the colors you can find, darlings. #LwaxanaTroi#LoveIsLove#AllStarTrek#StarTrek#StarTrekTNG#TNG#StarTrekDS9#DS9#Mastodon @allstartrek
"Most of us who are left, Doctor, are insane. We have to be in order to survive and emerge from our isolation. It鈥檚 the only way we can live with the pain of what we did. Or didn鈥檛. Each of us accepts the amount of responsibility we are capable of bearing. Some accept nothing, and these people are quickly swallowed by their isolation, their insanity transformed into a rationalized evil. A smaller group accepts total responsibility, and their insanity is an unbearable burden that cripples and eventually grinds them down. The rest of us carry what we can and leave the rest. For myself, Doctor, when a corpse is too heavy to bury I try to remember to ask someone to help me."
