Mastodonians, I'm going to be trapped in Nanaimo BC between Oct. 7 and 13 visiting in-laws who have narrow lives, don't like each other, and watch a lot of TV. As a Blind person even just going out for a walk on my own is more stressful than relaxing. I'm looking for rescue plans, to connect with folk who might want to walk or hike, who know about any live music or music jams, or who I could claim to be acquainted with on social media and want to meet in person for a coffee. If the stars align I'll get away to the mainland to spend Saturday and Sunday with my brother, but would love to find sanity saving escape strategies for an hour or 3 at a time on other days.  No ax murderers please.

The site closed in the 1980s. Today, metal beds stand in silent dormitories, and trees grow inside the bathrooms.
