July 25, 1943 was the day when news spread across Italy of Mussolini's arrest and his regime's downfall. That day, many Italians made enormous pasta meals to share with friends and neighbours, as a cheeky final defiant act against a dictator who, among a whole list of terrible things, tried to ban pasta! IN ITALY!
