Nvidia Agrees to Acquire Hugging Face For $13 Billion https://news.slashdot.org/story/26/08/27/1613222/nvidia-agrees-to-acquire-hugging-face-for-13-billion?utm_source=rss1.0mainlinkanon
As is well known, the number of points over GF( p2 ) (including the point at infinity) on an elliptic curve defined over GF( p2 ) takes the form p2 − t + 1 for some integer called the Frobenius trace number t ∈ [−2 p, 2 p]. There exist elliptic curves over GF( p2 ) of such order equal to p ^ 2 − p + 1.
see group theory lets you talk about the sizes of things in relation to each other and one of those sizes includes the number of distinct polynomials. i still have no clue what field curve25519 is actually acting in
These curves are actually characterized in [15] as Class Three supersingular elliptic curves over GF( p2 ) with Positive parameter t, namely t = p (as opposed to t = − p). This is why we call these curves simply the CTP curves for short.
love it. love you. throws flowers
Moreover, there exist efficiently computable (i.e., in polynomial time and space in length of input) injective homomorphisms of such curves onto the XTR supergroup. The Menezes–Okamoto–Vanstone (MOV) embedding [16], provides an example of such a homomorphism.
always really important to understand this totally separate part about ECC which is that sometimes the curve is something you're supposed to compute too and that can get REALLY sketchy because not all curves are the same at all!!! curve25519 does not do this which is good but be aware that computing the curve here is separate from e.g. picking the prime base field
One of the hot spots in the #Arctic this summer has been across western/northern Siberia and extending into the Barents and Kara Seas. This is also reflected in much warmer than average sea surface temperatures, which will be a feature in our annual report. Sea ice is unsurprisingly below average.

I only caught part of @meljoann 's stream but still had to endure Synergy Myers' spa reviews, a dozen Mustics™ adverts and literally heard Mel break their non-disparagement contract live on air. I bet the summonses are already being drawn up by Stimpy and Ren, inc., Synergy's legal representatives.
Some of the best live streaming performances I've seen, and their music videos are excellent.

@wordsmith pretty sure I’m going to Mustics™️ prison now :(

🆕 blog! “Book Review: The Infinite Sadness of Small Appliances by Glenn Dixon”
★★★★☆
This is a charming and zeitgeisty novel which has a strong start and fulfils the promise of its blurb. What if your autonomous vacuum cleaner was sentient and was very sad about your wife's death?
It pays obvious homage to the Brave Little Toaster, 100 Acre…

My review on GNU/Linux of the drawing tablet XPpen Artist 12 3rd is now published! It's a clever little display drawing tablet and relatively cheap, I’m truly loving it! I've already used it to finish a comic on the train, and it'll be my my go-to device for travelling from now on. 🩷 Taking the pink one was the best decision!

@breakfastgolem Less tooting, more doing!
And now @meljoann is killing it too!
@TwoClownsEating thanks yayy!
I am feeling so timezone-disadvantaged by NHAMfest but at least I was able to get up early enough to catch @meljoann's set. It is fire. https://stream.gravitons.org/
@fluffy awww! Thanks, was lovely to see you in chat. And infiltrate “the other place” heheheh
