The human brain does not desire knowledge, or safety, or truth - it desires certainty. The job of science is to deconstruct and rebuild the brain’s naive concept of certainty.
In that light, #LLMs are no different from fortune telling, or religion. What they tell you may be true or it may not - but truth is not the product. *Certainty* is the product.
They make you *feel* enlightened. That they can do this at a scale that fortune tellers could never dream of should be terrifying.

I’ve written a lot about this in other posts, so I’m not going to repeat it all here, but Duverger's Law is absolute nonsense. Anyone with a basic understanding of game theory can see that it describes an unstable equilibrium state. Anyone who has paid attention to political history of the last century can point to a large number of examples of this equilibrium collapsing. It was pretty indefensible as an idea when Duverger published it, it’s been repeatedly shown to be false since then.

Dagegen gibt es eine enorm große Zahl von Begriffen und Redewendungen für "vielleicht hätten wir die Schlussredaktion doch nicht abschaffen sollen".
@Fischblog Schute - danach habe ich die ganze Zeit gesucht, ich wusste, ich kenne was. Dass Leichtkahn dasselbe bezeichnet, wusste ich nicht, und Leichter kannte ich gar nicht (oder hab's vergessen, mein maritimes Vokabular war auch mal besser). Ach ja.
