Kyiv's strategy in Africa includes delivering aid to Malian refugees, a proposal to train Mauritania's military, and the broader bid to counter Russia's much more entrenched presence on the continent. https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2025/06/26/world/politics/ukraine-africa-russia/?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=mastodon #worldnews #politics #un #eu #us #africa #mauritania #ukraine #russia #russiaukrainewar#volodymyrzelenskyy #mali

Countries on the edge of the Sahara desert are reversing desertification by just digging half circles.

The ground in these places is too compact for water to soak in during wet season which leads to flooding but digging these holes gives the water a place to stop and soak in. And they’re pushing back the desert with this. By just digging holes.

Mo Ibrahim on African development:

'The decline of aid should not be seen as some sort of cliff-edge moment for Africa. It was never going to be enough to finance Africa’s development — and our huge continent’s place in the new global economy should never be determined by the generosity of international partners....

Africans must not fear Africa. We need to start investing in ourselves'!

Its been said before but Africans can (and must) do it for themselves!
