I am periodically upset that ActivityPub does not mandate a closed json-ld context for all objects. The reason it can accept new context definitions is basically so that useless examples can fit on less documentation space. It sacrifices practical interoperability for the theoretical comfort of developers.
ADHD and negative self focus
For many individuals with ADHD, the reality is more complex than just inattention. The opposite is often true: an extreme, poorly controlled fixation on distressing topics.
We call this the Negative Self-Focus.

"Der Verdacht liegt nahe, dass es Klöckner gar nicht um den Schutz von Sexarbeiter*innen geht, sondern darum, Stimmung gegen Frauen und queere Menschen zu machen, die nicht ihren engen Moralvorstellungen entsprechen."

Bonfire Social 1.0 is live! A federated, community‑first social network built on the modular Bonfire toolkit, and it’s only the beginning.
It's time to go beyond microblogging and build apps for community organising, open science, mutual aid, and collective decision‑making. Let's take back the internet with open protocols, consent‑based governance, and portability by design.

Gotta love The Guardian for those quotes from Europeans on #Mamdani's win in NYC:
"Verbeek backed this with a comment he had overheard in an Oslo cafe, in which Mamdani was described as an American politician who “finally” sounded normal."
“Normal. That’s the word,” Verbeek wrote in his newsletter, The Planet. “Here, taking care of one another through public programs isn’t radical socialism. It’s Tuesday.”

I'm in the middle of throwing a log on the bonfire crowdfunding campaign. This is one of the most important, creative, and principled projects in open social media. I can't wait to see it flourish! Join me.

i am looking forward to the time in which dhh becomes one of those names that prompts you to stare in the distance, vaguely remembering what a shitty person they were back then, but that it's been so long that perhaps they might even merit some kind of grace, not that you will ever cross paths again
but that's not now yet. here's another great piece on the whole thing, by @alatiera https://blogs.gnome.org/alatiera/2025/11/06/dhh-and-omarchy-midlife-crisis/
Scenes from the Fediverse booth at SFSCon.
SFSCon is starting. Our Fediverse track is this afternoon. Looking forward to it, making new friends and moving the open social web and the Fediverse forward!
Thanks #SFSCon for the FediForum shout-out to #FediForum during the opening!
Fun fact: paper forms have no validation requirements before submission.
This still isn't exactly correct but there isn't space for an essay.
@julian @hongminhee @jenniferplusplus @feditest I'd love for any of these projects to use the data I've collected at the Observation btw
Hi everyone!
We are glad you are excited for the quote posts! They will come eventually but right now we (and I mean mostly Conny) are in the process of rewriting the timeline to be able to accommodate for quotes, it might take some time. We are only a few people who do this in our free time. We can't give you a time estimate but of course we also want it out as soon as possible. Stay tuned!
Rock’n’roll @dario on #RouterFreedom at #SFSCON2025!

@james re: podcast hosting companies stopping their own podcasts: is Buzzsprout the only left standing for legacy hosts?
My old job (Castos) stopped when they cut me.
Justin doesn’t do one specific to Transistor.
RSS does content but not a weekly.
Captivate….stopped?
