Yeah a few of us had a good chat about that approach at the last #fediforum and we're now prototyping that in Bonfire at the moment, as a way to easily add federation capability to non-federated webapps (eg. for an events/calendar app to publish events by just POSTing a JSON with the event info via C2S to a bonfire server).

Would you financially support a new effort (of mine) to build and maintain a database of metadata and descriptive statistics about the #Fediverse and other #SocialWeb, #Indieweb, #smallweb, and #p2p networks?
I would serve high-level interfaces to a database of metadata resulting from ongoing automated crawls.
Key goals would include • comprehension of the current state of networks, and • navigation of the breadth of networks based on topic, identity, and technical necessity for ad-hoc needs.
In addition to the crawls and website, I would host a conversational bot on the Fediverse to answer questions about the Fediverse as a whole and help people find people.
this is an evolution of a previous idea I talked about at the last #FediForum.
I would hope that my automated efforts would complement and bolster others' excellent curation efforts, and would hope to collaborate with similar databases. Supporters would have exclusive access to functions, and input to development of features.

🎦 Our #Fediverse talks from #SFSCon are live.
I gave a talk about our existing building blocks of public-interest digital infrastructures like #Matrix #Wikimedia projects and #socialnetworks and how they are relevant to establish real and long term #digital #sovereignty. ✨
