🔥 The Bonfire Social 1.0.5 release candidate is out!
This one brings archipelago mode (opt-in, allow-list federation for tightly-knit communities and networks), a more lightweight search backend (see changelog for migration steps), broadcasting announcements, another embeddable widget, PGP-encrypted emails, and many UX improvements and fixes.
If you're running an instance and want to give it a go, please let us know if you run into any issues.

Dunque cerco amanti di HTML che siano interessatз a partecipare e/o co-organizzare un piccolo incontro carino anche da noi, per celebrare il linguaggio ipertestuale più bello del mondo.
La mia idea è di scegliere una città del nord (purtroppo non riesco a muovermi più lontano), trovare un luogo che ci ospiti e fare una festicciola, magari con qualche piccola demo, presentazione o condivisione di skill. 🪩

Apologies for another toot about #WSocial but I am genuinely shaking right now.
The @EUCommission and its president Ursula von der Leyen have recently migrated their ATproto (Bluesky) accounts to W Social.
I cannot fathom why they would pick a private enterprise whose leaders didn't even have ATproto accounts 3 months ago... and who are so open to having their users' data mined to train European AI models.

The directory name is ".claude", the filename is "CLAUDE.md", the content looks rather like LLM prompts, and there is a well-known LLM online service called #Claude.
Since I don't do vibe-coding and haven't (yet) had to check vibe-coded code, I can't say more than "a clue". People with experience looking at Claude-vibe-coded code might want to comment here.

@Bonfire@bonfire.cafe I have no idea why Astro was unable to download it automatically? Other outbound http on the container are working fine, so I'd guess a file system permissions issue within the container but I might be totally wrong.
@mavnn@bonfire.mavnn.eu yeah apparently something changed in new astro version. We temp commented it in beta.3 since it was using only in the weather widget for showing moon phases, and the widget is currently on hold anyway

Well Open Science Network is based on ActivityPub and offers many useful features for scientists and their institutions that Mastodon does not provide, integrating closed discussions and circles. It can be used to build scientific discourse around manuscripts. One good way to get info is to check their blog : https://openscience.network/blog/. Another one is to ask them directly : @Bonfire

Could you give us more info on the jacobin.de case? You presented at the https://fediforum.org/2026-04/session/7-b/ is their more details available?
Other stories about communities adopting Bonfire as their toolbox to shape their community space might be of interest.
I'm asking for the FKI, DTF and others around us who'd love to learn more, document it for our communities and help telling your stories 🙂
