And people wonder why the fuck I stay away from Bluesky. Attie treats all of ATProto as an ingestion protocol, and I do not want what I do to be any easier to ingest.
Kauer Banshee
Last week, we mentioned the Firebird for no particularly good reason, so let’s do that again, shall we? This guitar… is not a Firebird. Great, moving on then.
We have looked at Kauer before with their modified Explorer type guitar, and, come to think of it, the Banshee does perhaps bear a passing resemblance to a Firebird. Reverse body shape, neckthrough construction with raised center and thinner body wings, reverse headstock with banjo tuners whose buttons stick straight out the back rather than having a 90 degree turn like typical guitar tuners.
However, instead of the Firebird mini-humbuckers, it this has three TV Jones Filtertron style pickups. There is a normal three-way toggle switch for the neck and bridge pickups, plus three slider switches with little icons. One turns the middle pickup on/off independently of the others, one is for coil splitting, and one with a picture of a rooster engages a “cocked wah” filter. (A cocked wah sound is when you turn a wah pedal on, but then just leave it in one position rather than sweeping it back and forth.) On a two pickup guitar, we would expect the four knobs to be a volume and tone for each. It is not clear how they are allocated on this guitar.
Gold hardware, pearl pentagon inlays, and routing on both the left AND right side of the headstock, because they know what we like.
The finish is “Deep Purple and Tangelo Sparkle.” Purple, check. Sparkle, check. Tangelo‽ Maybe a little something for these freaks: https://beige.party/@Neat_hot/115678939639341930
Honestly, had you just asked if we thought purple and orange would look cool on a guitar, we probably would have thought no, but actually seeing it… Jeepers!

Every so often, it’s nice to see that WordPress hasn’t changed since I stepped away well over a decade ago, despite become a vastly larger project in terms of contributors, number of users, and money going into the project.
Matt still has absolute power, despite scarcely being around the project.
The Trump administration on Thursday sued the state of California and a Los Angeles County official,
seeking to temporarily block the state from counting mail ballots submitted by voters it asserts are noncitizens.
The suit, which would apply to some 20,000 Californians that the administration has cast as “likely noncitizens,” is a long shot.
But it opens a new front in the administration’s legal battles with local election officials weeks before the midterm elections.
Over the past 18 months, the Trump administration has sued California and other states over voter rolls,
and has lost resoundingly in court.
This time, the Justice Department is trying a new strategy,
seeking a court order to prevent the counting of votes from the 20,000 people in the state identified by the Department of Homeland Security “until their citizenship status can be determined.”
Similar past claims of thousands of illegal voters have fallen apart under scrutiny.
Last month, election officials in Nevada said that they had examined a list provided by homeland security officials of 185 names of supposed noncitizens who had been improperly registered to vote,
and found that every person on the list was a lawful citizen.
“I think this lawsuit is going to have some very serious problems,
and raises questions about what the reason is for D.O.J.’s timing,”
said David Becker of the Center for Election Innovation and Research,
a nonpartisan group that advises election officials.
He noted that the administration’s past claims of noncitizen voting in other states had been found to be
“vastly inflated” and “rife with errors.”

It's been sixteen years since we started "The Architecture of Open Source Applications" project (https://aosabook.org/). I'm occasionally tempted to put together another volume, but what I'd actually rather do is have people write a chapter each describing the architecture of what they'd build if they could start from scratch today. What would your ideal package manager look like? How would you structure the internals of a modern shell? In another timeline…
