Kauer Banshee
Last week, we mentioned the Firebird for no particularly good reason, so let’s do that again, shall we? This guitar… is not a Firebird. Great, moving on then.
We have looked at Kauer before with their modified Explorer type guitar, and, come to think of it, the Banshee does perhaps bear a passing resemblance to a Firebird. Reverse body shape, neckthrough construction with raised center and thinner body wings, reverse headstock with banjo tuners whose buttons stick straight out the back rather than having a 90 degree turn like typical guitar tuners.
However, instead of the Firebird mini-humbuckers, it this has three TV Jones Filtertron style pickups. There is a normal three-way toggle switch for the neck and bridge pickups, plus three slider switches with little icons. One turns the middle pickup on/off independently of the others, one is for coil splitting, and one with a picture of a rooster engages a “cocked wah” filter. (A cocked wah sound is when you turn a wah pedal on, but then just leave it in one position rather than sweeping it back and forth.) On a two pickup guitar, we would expect the four knobs to be a volume and tone for each. It is not clear how they are allocated on this guitar.
Gold hardware, pearl pentagon inlays, and routing on both the left AND right side of the headstock, because they know what we like.
The finish is “Deep Purple and Tangelo Sparkle.” Purple, check. Sparkle, check. Tangelo‽ Maybe a little something for these freaks: https://beige.party/@Neat_hot/115678939639341930
Honestly, had you just asked if we thought purple and orange would look cool on a guitar, we probably would have thought no, but actually seeing it… Jeepers!
