@FediTips I haven't been able to find any documentation showing what the interface looks like - important factor to decide if I'll join a server. Can anyone here link to like a tutorial video or screenshots?
Insurance premiums for homes have surged 48% since 2020, outpacing the 3.8% rise in household incomes, per Zillow.
@lowqualityfacts Definitive proof of Intelligent Design. Finally!
Do you want to feel old?
I was watching a movie reaction on YouTube and the reactors were talking about a Rubik’s cube. It plays a part in the movie.
They are at least in their late 20s
One was talking about how he had heard of them, but had never actually seen one.
The woman said that her grandparents had one of their house, but she was never able to do anything with it
I was today years old when I discovered that you can browse #Mastodon via @MonaApp using a…get this…
**Game Controller**
🤯🤯🤯
Wow.
(I only discovered this because I'd plugged my DualSense into my Mac to charge overnight and left it connected when booting up Mona today. Took me a while to figure out what the heck was going on! 😂)

@piecritic @fasterthanlime exciting. Honestly if I don’t have to do it myself it would get done way faster. I really want this in the official LSP too
@zkat @fasterthanlime when I'm happy with my branch I'll link it to you informally to review. But so far I have KQL and schema working together with winnow and the LSP showing appropriate errors, and the about text where it makes sense. I'm now poking at how to do proper autosuggest with context.
@todd @ivory Okay, I've disabled Reduce Motion, and the issue still occurs, so it's not related to that after all, sowwy.
But it might be even more specific than that: it's when navigating back with the ← arrow key, then attempting to scroll *while the mouse cursor is on top of the Ivory window*.
The view will not scroll until I move the mouse outside of the Ivory window, then back over the window (without clicking).
Here's my attempt at recording it (keep in mind that I'm scrolling my mouse wheel after I've hit the ← arrow key):
The implied model of work, here, is all sorts of special purpose droid labor units -- think factory construction bots, farming bots, etc. -- managed by a smaller number of protocol droids who can speak to them. Likewise, the protocol droids are also employed to speak to nonhumans in their own languages, so the humans can talk to and, in standard colonial trope, give _them_ instructions as well.
My very non-canonical head canon of the Star Wars galaxy is that it's the Milky Way in the distant future. At some point, humans, with their droids and hyperspace, colonized the galaxy entirely. This is where the widespread tech and omnipresence of humans comes from. At some point, this civilization was overthrown by nonhumans rebelling en masse, a rebellion which includes droids.
It's from this collapse that the Unknown Regions become unknown.
3P0 -- and other Protocol Droids -- are there to translate non-human laboring droids into human, and to convey human instructions to the laboring droids. Of course, the laboring droids *understand* human languages, they just aren't built to produce them. It's important they can do what they're told, moreso than for them to give information to Humans.
The fact that cyborgs are apparently in this category as well tells us something about bio-essentialism in the Galaxy, too.
@meg Well, that first episode was intense and not what I was expecting 🫨 Maybe I’m too old for such intensity… I stopped watching after about halfway into it
“The Nazis never were in the majority. Those who simply ‘went along’ were absolutely critical to the regime's success.”
“It is easier for you to speak up and stand out if you see others already doing so. So, find these others. Run with them.
Let their examples strengthen your resolve.
Then, be such an Other for others, in turn.”

Also the charming drawings in them are so delightful. Ozma and Glinda are basically art nouveau princesses.
Technically I’m only up to #4, so maybe they turn yucky later, though I remember “Glinda of Oz” (#14) being one of my favorites after “Ozma of Oz,” which has the most charming talking chicken. They’re also super quick reads now as an adult.
Update: Book 4, “Dorothy and the Wizard in Oz,” is significantly less good than 2 & 3 in the Oz series. Mostly because it has the wizard in it, and he’s an adult male with the sensibilities of a dude and huckster in the early 1900s. He’s just not that interesting a character. Dorothy has a cat in it, which is a cute nod to us cat people, but that’s so far the only redeeming factor. 😂

TGIF! I'm happy as a clam because I'm here at my favorite little place in #Portland: Little River Café at the Riverplace Marina. Been too long since I was here… 🥰
