@petersuber Working exactly as intended. These are the people who read 1984 as an instruction manual rather than a warning. They want to establish a "Ministry of Truth" and it's a lot harder to do if they have agencies still producing factual data. And certainly there's no point in even collecting the data if they're just going to suppress it and make up whatever they want...
